Krishen Khanna

Krishen Khanna was born in Lyallpur (now Faisalabad), Pakistan. Before moving to Mumbai, India, he attended evening classes at the Mayo School of Arts in Lahore. Khanna became an active member of the Progressive Artists Group there. He has participated in international group shows and has held several important positions in the decision-making bodies of the Lalit Kala Akademi, the National Gallery of Modern Art, and the Rupankar Museum in Bhopal. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1996.
