K. S. Rao

K.S. Rao was born in 1936 in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. He is a distinguished senior artist with a First Class Fine Arts Diploma from the J.J. School of Arts, Mumbai. In 1985, he was honoured by the 4^th Karnataka Kala Mela Committee, and in 1992, he was honoured by the Karnataka State Lalit Kala Akademi during their Silver Jubilee Celebrations. From 1975 to 1980, he worked as a design expert under the Colombo Plan on Deputation by the Government of India to the Government of Sri Lanka. He has received awards from the Bombay Art Society; Hyderabad Art Society; Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata; Tamil Nadu Lalit Kala Akademi; and the National Award from the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, to name a few. He has held numerous solo and group shows and participated in several workshops. His works can be found in the collections of many corporations worldwide.
