Ganapati Hegde

Ganapati Hegde was born and brought up in Kumta in coastal Karnataka. His maternal grandfather, an artist, influenced and instilled him to develop a love for fine arts from an early age. Ganapati has won many awards, including the 52nd National Award from Lalit Kala Akademi and the Camlin National Award from Camlin Art Foundation. He holds a Diploma in Arts from the Ken School of Art, a Bachelor of Arts from Karnataka University, and a Master of Fine Arts (External) from Bengaluru Open University.

Ganapati Hegde's art explores the natural terrain with a strong affinity and admiration for flora and fauna. He creates fantastical territories comprising trees, flowers, living creatures, and abstract thoughts. His works are expressive and serve as a map of the inner workings and thoughts running through the artist's mind. The Gods and Nature series is a tribute to Indian culture, mythology, and tradition, inspired by scenes and instances from the epics and holy scriptures.
