Chandra Bhattacharjee
Bhattacharjee studied at the Indian College of Arts & Draftsmanship in Kolkata and completed his Post Graduation with a gold medal from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. His canvases are languid and removed from the urban world. His compositions are influenced by the Santhal tribe of West Bengal. The textural quality of his paintings strongly resembles the traditional mud walls of these villages, which are smeared with cow dung. The world of Bhattacharjee's creation knows no boundaries, where humans, animals, and surreal creatures coexist in harmony. He has held several group and solo exhibitions of his works in India and abroad.
