Atin Basak

Born in Kolkata, Atin Basak graduated with a first-class in B.V.A. (Indian Painting) from the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, and an M.A. (Graphic Art) from the M.S. University of Baroda. He was invited by the Director of Ecole Regionale des Beaux-Arts, Caen, France, to serve as a visiting lecturer for three months and by Visva-Bharati University to give a demonstration lecture on graphics at Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan. He has received numerous awards, including recognition from the State Academy Annual Exhibition; I.A.A.I. Calcutta Airport Art Camp; Gold Medal in West Bengal Youth Festival; Government College of Art and Craft; Award in Graphics and Painting; Award of Research Grant; Lalit Kala Akademi; and Award of National Cultural Scholarship, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. He was also awarded a Junior Fellowship from the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Culture, and the Charles Wallace India Trust to work for Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop for four months.
